What Makes Our School Unique?

We provide a flexible and varied program with the emphasis on development of divergent thinking skills and creative problem solving. Our students benefit from their teachers sharing a wealth of training and diverse life experiences presented in ways that promote learning. In the past, the size of staff and subject area certification limited courses to the standard core offerings for middle and high school curriculum.

We have added electives and a new Dell computer lab, which allows our students the opportunity to integrate technology into their core courses across the curriculum. Courses such as Career Management Education, Visual Arts, Media Concepts, and Reading have been added to the curriculum.

Who Attends Our School?

The student population at Baxter Alternative Learning Center consists entirely of non-zero & zero-tolerance policy offenders. Students are referred from all Metropolitan Public Schools serving students in grades 7-12.

Baxter Alternative is geographically located in the Maplewood Cluster. To determine where you are zoned, visit our School Zone Finder.
